A site manager for a Principal Contractor Site Manager (PCSM) role is needed for a substation extension project in Ashford, about 4 kilometers south of Heathrow. This substation is considered critical for the country and for Heathrow. The work is currently in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, with the works including surveying, and later, the main works.
Key details about the project and role:
o Location: Ashford.
o Works: The project involves a live substation where there will be 4SGT replacement, a lot of CV war cabling, and upgrading the substation. A building with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) will be built later, in about 18 months. The site manager will likely not be involved in the construction of the building but their knowledge may be required during the development of the design. Site activities, such as investigation works and other works in the substation, are ongoing.
o Urgency: The role is needed as soon as possible.
o Duration: The role might be needed up to March for sure, and possibly to June.
o Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. This is a 45-hour week. The rate of £60 per hour, but we will not to restrict candidates based on the rate as it is negotiable.
o IR35: Inside
A major concern is the requirement for specific certificates. The certificates needed are:
o National Grid Safety Instructions (NSI) 6 and 8 Competent Person (in date).
o Temporary Works Coordinator certificates.
o CAT 1, CAT 2 with Substation High Voltage (HV) module for utility excavation.
o Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
o Safety, Health, and Environmental Test (SHEA).
The selected candidate will also need to undergo an assessment by the client, which includes a small exam called SR37. This exam is based on the National Grid Supplier Requirement 137. If a candidate has experience as a site manager on a National Grid job site, has NSI 6 and 8, and has conducted SR 163 meetings should not have trouble passing the internal exam.

Our client is looking for a temporary Business Support Administrator for their office in Newcastle.
What you’ll be doing
You will report to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistants will have a wide range of duties, including as a minimum the following:-
Front of House
Located at the reception desk, the Facilities Assistants will be the first point of contact for external visitors and will be expected to provide First Class front of house/reception services to include the management of visitors, telephone answering, management of the online parking portal, dealing with queries raised through the shared mailbox, dealing with all day to day queries raised by employees, visitors and contractors to the site and the provision of other services/support as required.
Meeting Rooms

Mailroom

What you’ll be doing
o Design solutions in conjunction with manufacturers and consultants.
o Create and verify EC&I documentation
– Specifications/Schedules
– Reports and Plans
– Detailed installation drawings
o Review and check vendor document / information for compliance with project
specifications.
o Support the Engineering Manager and contribute to design / construction
reviews.
o Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments.
Communicate residual design risks to others.
o Provide strong technical support and identify innovative and robust solutions.
o Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and
suppliers, managing their input in the design, development, pricing and delivery
of technical solutions.
o Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that the business stream is
at the forefront of the industry both technically and in using the latest
technologies and standards.
o Mentoring and training younger engineers within the team.

o Clear focus on collaboration and building relationships with other designers and
Project teams to deliver cost effective and acceptable design solutions
o Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and write clearly and succinctly
o Promote innovation and continuous improvement in design.

Civil Engineer (Bridges)
Job Description
Bridge Engineer (Civils / Bridges) Permanent
Our client was established in 2006 and currently has 62 staff based in four offices (Glasgow, Edinburgh, York and London). The workload is 70% design work in the rail industry with the balance in transportation, energy, heavy civil engineering, and structural sectors. The company aims to provide practical solutions to save money for their clients.
Responsibilities will include:
Development of conceptual and detailed designs in accordance with project requirements
Checking of design calculations and drawings completed by other engineers
Structural calculations and analysis using appropriate software packages
Technical leadership/ input/ review role for design, assessment and other technical aspects.
Assisting in preparation of fee proposals
Managing and building relationships with clients, consultants and contractors
Attending meetings representing the company and the design team
On site visits/ structural inspections/ investigations.
Providing technical support to less experienced staff
Project management of small and medium sized projects
The ideal candidate should have:
An engineering degree and be chartered or sitting review within 12 months (ICE/IstructE)
A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in a design environment.
Experience of some of the following structures – bridges, tunnels, stations & buildings and design using various materials, e.g. – concrete, steel, timber, masonry
Experience in undertaking the role of CRE Bridge refurbishment/renewals in a range of structural types and materials
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Project management experience including project scoping, coordinating design activities, contractual and financial management
Experience of management of teams of up to 2-4 people
Experience of working on multiple concurrent and multi-discipline commissions
Experience in representing the company to clients and working with a range of project stakeholders
An innovative outlook and be looking to use and further develop technical and business skills to match the growing needs of the business
